Reason to Celebrate
Luke 15:23-24 NIV: "Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let´s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found." So they began to celebrate.
It is the parable of the Lost. In Luke chapter 15, there are three such parables: the parable of the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost son. Within the words of these parables, Jesus reveals a very tender truth regarding our Heavenly Father—He has a truly compassionate heart for the lost. It is His will that none should perish, it is His desire that all find their way home, and it is a glorious and wonderful reason for celebration when they are lost no more. It is His desire, as well, that we share His heart, and that we share His compassion and yearning for none to perish. Pause for a moment to consider: what is it that prevents you from sharing His heart for the lost? If your heart is hard, ask God to soften it. If you are callous, pray for compassion. Consider how your Father regarded you when you were lost. You were dead, and are alive again. You were lost, but now you have been found. That alone gave God and all of Heaven reason to celebrate.
